Rules of Corp Membership

I was thinking about rules today, and applying them in the corp structure. Now, I know that part of my recruitment spiel is:
[are you looking for] a corporation that allows you to do your own thing in your own time?
So I was trying to reconcile that against having rules. How can members do their own thing if there's still rules?

Well, they still can, because the rules are simple.
  1. Don't initiate any fights
  2. Don't smacktalk
Other than that, members can do their own thing.

Considering the corp is a pacifist corp, and I'm certainly promoting it that way, I've concluded that there shouldn't be a problem with having these rules in the corp.

The reason for these rules is because I want to develop a reputation for the Touring New Eden corp. I want it to become known as a neutral, pacifist corp that is friends with everyone.

A corp for hippies.  :)

But I can't develop and maintain that reputation if any of my members go around shooting people.

So anyone who I find violating any of the Rules of Corp Membership will be immediately kicked out of the corp.

  1. I always like Halan Turrek's main rule: "Don't be stupid." , which personally I relax to 'willfully stupid'.

  2. And then there's Wil Wheaton's "Don't be a dick." I like that one too :)

  4. Some chat the other day made me think that perhaps even just taking on the obvious appearance of being aggressive to another Capsuleer should probably be frowned on too.

What I mean by that, for example, is something like targeting them and then travelling directly towards them. If they warp off well, they've absolutely no way of knowing that the corp member involved was just 'joking about' or 'intimidating'. Such could possibly lead to a bad name being spread about the corp by some.

I can't provide any further insight than that, It was just something I was thinking about the other day.

  5. I agree with you. Any kind of intimidation tactics should be discouraged. Friendly, natural pacifists shouldn't be trying to be aggressive or intimidating
